The Opportunity:
As the Finance/Budget Manager, you will serve as the lead non-faculty administrator for the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, a diverse academic and research department with more than 30 faculty programs. You will be responsible for the fiscal, budgetary, administrative, and operational management of the department and will serve as a principal advisor to the Chair on fiscal, personnel, operational, and administrative matters. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee departmental financial resources, including operating, grant, contract, gift, and other funding sources. You will supervise administrative support staff, ensure compliance with university, state, federal, and granting agency policies and regulations, and collaborate with departmental, college, university, and external partners, including USDA-ARS units, to support the effective administration and overall functions of the department.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement. Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 - $7,569.55 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated experience managing administrative, operational, fiscal, or business functions.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and/or other computer software applications for reporting, analysis, and record keeping.
- Demonstrated experience developing, monitoring, reconciling, and analyzing budgets and financial reports.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience using computerized accounting, financial, HR, and/or administrative information systems.
- Experience with state and government regulations pertaining to fiscal management.
- Experience working in an academic environment.
- Experience working with grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, and sponsored project funding.
- Related professional experience at WSU or another higher education institutions.
- Demonstrated experience with short and long-term planning, or academic program administration.
