Field Technician

The Field Technician supports environmental air testing, environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, and hazardous materials testing across a wide range of client sites. This role is heavily field-based and involves performing air sampling, conducting safety and compliance inspections, and supporting environmental testing projects from planning through reporting. The position offers a clear growth path into project management for individuals who demonstrate strong field performance, effective client communication, and a high level of project ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental air sampling, including indoor air quality, mold, and asbestos monitoring at commercial, industrial, and construction sites.
  • Conduct environmental health and safety (EHS) testing and inspections to help ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental standards.
  • Collect, label, and document samples for hazardous materials testing, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous building materials.
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment and instrumentation used for air testing, exposure monitoring, and site evaluations.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed field reports and documentation, including test results, site observations, and compliance findings.
  • Assist in planning and executing environmental testing projects, including scheduling site visits and organizing equipment and resources.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to support site activities and ensure clear communication of testing requirements and findings.
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements to help ensure projects stay on schedule and meet regulatory expectations.
  • Support environmental compliance monitoring, exposure tracking, and site safety evaluations as part of ongoing EHS programs.
  • Contribute to remediation and environmental compliance efforts by providing reliable field data and observations to project teams.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with air testing, including indoor air quality, mold, or asbestos monitoring.
  • Experience with asbestos, lead, or other hazardous materials testing and sampling.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental compliance requirements related to EHS and hazardous materials.
  • Understanding of working in commercial construction environments and large industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively on commercial, industrial, and construction sites in a heavily field-based role.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to calibrate and operate field testing equipment and instrumentation.
  • Two-year degree or four-year degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Asbestos Inspector / Air Monitoring, Lead Risk Assessor, or OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, remediation, and mold-related work.

Work Environment

The role is primarily field-based across commercial, industrial, and construction sites, with frequent travel to various client locations. The Field Technician works in varying site conditions, including active construction areas and operational industrial facilities, where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and strictly used. The position involves hands-on use of field equipment and instrumentation for environmental air testing, EHS compliance monitoring, and hazardous materials sampling. In addition to fieldwork, there is occasional office-based work focused on reporting, documentation, and project coordination. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
