Field Technician- Mechanical/ Shop Support

Flynn Bros Contracting is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Field Technician to support our shop and field operations. This role assists mechanics, plant personnel, and field crews with equipment maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general jobsite support to help keep projects running safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, has basic mechanical knowledge, and is willing to learn in a fast-paced construction environment.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist shop mechanics with maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and paving equipment.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks such as greasing equipment, changing filters, checking fluids, and replacing parts
• Help diagnose equipment issues and communicate findings to supervisors or mechanics
• Support field crews with equipment setup and breakdown
• Perform routine inspections of tools and equipment to ensure safe operation
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard
• Transport tools, parts, and equipment between job sites and the shop as needed
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and supplies
• Monitor work areas for safety hazards and report concerns immediately
• Complete basic documentation and work logs when required
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Consistently projects a positive company image by interacting with employees and management in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner.
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements
Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Mechanical or shop experience preferred (construction or heavy equipment experience a plus)
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
• Owns and maintains basic hand tools
• Willingness to learn equipment operation and repair
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds and perform physical labor
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekends

Preferred Skills

• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, or heavy equipment
• Welding or fabrication experience
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
