Field technician (Chicago)

We are seeking an experienced Field Technician with strong Nokia Small Cell Integration experience , particularly with Nokia AirScale equipment and troubleshooting of Small Cell Hubs and Nodes.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on telecom professional with expertise in Nokia Small Cell installation, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting across LTE/5G networks. Nokia AirScale and Small Cell troubleshooting experience are essential.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom field operations, Small Cell deployment, RAN installation, or integration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Nokia Small Cell Integration and Nokia AirScale equipment.
• Proven experience troubleshooting Small Cell Hubs, Nodes, and associated network equipment.
• Experience with Nokia Flexi Zone, AirScale, and related Small Cell platforms.
• Hands-on experience in site commissioning, integration, software loading, and configuration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving hardware, power, fiber, Ethernet, transport connectivity, and RF issues.
• Working knowledge of LTE/4G and 5G NR networks and RF fundamentals.
• Experience using Nokia commissioning tools, CLI, and web-based configuration interfaces.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot integration issues and coordinate with NOC and RF engineering teams.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with Nokia Site Manager and AirScale Element Manager.
• Experience with fiber testing, OTDR, optical power meters, spectrum analyzers, and cable/antenna analyzers.
• Knowledge of GPS/timing synchronization, VSWR, and optical link troubleshooting.
• Experience with CBRS, private LTE/5G, or DAS deployments.
• Nokia technical certifications, OSHA, RF Safety, or fiber certifications.

What You Will Be Doing

Support Nokia Small Cell deployments through installation, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, and site acceptance. Focus on resolving Hub and Node issues, ensuring network connectivity, clearing alarms, and validating LTE/5G network performance.

Daily Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and integrate Nokia Small Cell equipment, including AirScale and Flexi Zone platforms.
• Troubleshoot Small Cell Hubs, Nodes, and associated hardware and connectivity issues.
• Perform software loading, configuration, integration, and connectivity validation.
• Identify and resolve power, fiber, Ethernet, GPS/timing, transport, and RF-related faults.
• Conduct alarm clearing, cell status verification, and post-integration health checks.
• Perform acceptance testing, including throughput, signal quality, and RF performance validation.
• Coordinate with NOC, RF Engineers, and deployment teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Follow Nokia installation standards, MOPs, and approved maintenance windows.
• Maintain site documentation, test results, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
• Provide daily progress updates, report technical blockers, and support timely project completion.
