Field Service Technician - Youngstown, OH
Pay Range: $25.00 - $35.00/HR Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits
Seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for a manufacturer in the Youngstown, Ohio area. In this role, you will perform preventive and corrective mechanical service, troubleshooting, overhauling, and commissioning industrial systems—including Ariel compressors, CAT/Waukesha engines, pumps, motors, and electrical control systems—both independently and alongside client engineering teams in the field.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and field repairs on industrial compressors, gas/electric engines, pumps, and motors.
- Overhaul and rebuild heavy equipment, including Ariel compressors, CAT and Waukesha engines, and electric motor drives.
- Diagnose pneumatic and electrical controls, including solenoid valves, relays, wiring circuits, and utility systems (oil/coolant).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Assist with the physical installation, precision alignment, and site commissioning of new equipment packages.
- Submit detailed daily digital maintenance logs, work orders, expense reports, and timesheets.
- Collaborate effectively with field service engineers, subcontractors, and customer representatives.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to entry-level field technicians.
- Maintain strict adherence to site-specific PPE and safety protocols in varying weather and site conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED plus 1–5+ years of related field service experience; OR completion of a vocational/technical training program (or apprenticeship) with a minimum of 1 year experience repairing heavy industrial equipment, compressors, or gas engines.
- Proficiency in reading engineering specifications, schematics, safety manuals, and operating procedures; solid applied math skills (fractions, ratios, percentages).
- Ability to periodically lift 50+ pounds, climb stairs/ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and work in varied climate conditions (bending, squatting, crawling as needed).
- Ability to write clear work summaries and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record, clear background check, and maintain a drug-free lifestyle.
