Field Service Technician

We are seeking a reliable Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair equipment at customer sites. This role combines technical troubleshooting, hands-on field work, and customer-focused service delivery to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is technically adept, comfortable working in diverse environments, and committed to providing responsive, high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems according to company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Diagnose technical issues using appropriate tools, meters, and diagnostic software; implement timely solutions and escalate complex problems to engineering as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by clearly communicating findings, repair options, and recommended preventative measures to customers.
  • Document service activities accurately in the company work order system, including parts used, time on site, test results, and next steps.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and service kit; report low-stock items and assist with parts ordering when required.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance visits and safety inspections to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and applicable regulations while working on customer sites; maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, technical support, and sales teams to coordinate service schedules and share customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Travel regularly to customer sites within the assigned territory and manage time efficiently to meet response and completion targets.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in electronics, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of field service, technical support, or hands-on repair experience preferred.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with diagnostic tools, meters, and basic hand/power tools.
  • Experience working in field environments and independently managing service calls and schedules.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel within an assigned territory.
  • Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams; basic computer skills for service reporting and remote diagnostics.
  • Physically able to lift equipment and parts, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces as required.
  • Certifications such as OSHA, EPA, or manufacturer-specific training are a plus.
  • Desired skills: demonstrated experience in technical (Tech) troubleshooting, field operations (Field), and direct service delivery (Service).
