Electrical Field Service Technician
A nationally recognized leader in electrical power services is hiring Field Service Technicians to perform acceptance and maintenance testing on medium and high voltage equipment across utility, industrial, and data center sites. This is a field based, travel intensive role for technicians who take pride in precise workmanship and safety focused execution. Placement level (II, III, or IV) and pay are determined by certification and hands on field experience. NETA or NICET EPT certification is preferred but not required, candidates with strong hands on apparatus testing experience will also be considered.
This is a field based position with regional travel of up to 50%, depending on project assignment. The standard rotation follows a Monday departure and Friday return schedule, with weekends off. This is not a remote position.
Pay is structured by experience level and certification:
- Level II (approximately 2 to 4 years, NETA II, NICET EPT II, or equivalent): $35 to $60 per hour
- Level III (approximately 5 to 8 years, NETA III, NICET EPT III, or equivalent): $65 to $75 per hour
- Level IV (8+ years, NETA IV, NICET EPT IV, or equivalent): $75 to $85+ per hour
Technicians perform acceptance and maintenance testing per NETA standards on medium and high voltage equipment, including low and medium voltage switchgear, power transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays and protection systems. Work is carried out in full compliance with NFPA 70E, including lockout tagout procedures and arc flash and shock hazard evaluations. After testing, technicians analyze results, identify deficiencies, and produce detailed field service reports, keeping management and clients updated on findings and project status. Responsibilities scale with experience level. Level II technicians execute testing under supervision while building their technical foundation. Level III technicians lead small crews and take ownership of portions of a project independently. Level IV technicians serve as subject matter experts and lead technicians, working directly with clients, owning full projects, and mentoring junior staff.
High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical certification in electrical technology is a plus, please confirm with client). 2 to 8+ years of electrical testing experience, depending on level. Strong understanding of power distribution systems. Working knowledge of NETA standards and NFPA 70E. Ability to travel up to 50%. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. NETA certification (Level II, III, or IV) or NICET EPT certification (Level II, III, or IV) preferred; candidates without certification but with strong hands on apparatus testing experience will also be considered.
