This position is responsible for diagnosing mechanical failures and makes needed repairs to motorized equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, tractors, tractor components, trucks, and other vehicles on various project sites.Responsibilities:Assembles, sets up, adjusts, maintains and repairs all types of construction equipment, cranes and related vehiclesMay perform the duties of a welder in repair of equipmentPerform field diagnostics to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures and determine appropriate repair solutions and cost of repairsTests, repairs or installs mechanical units, such as water pumps, fuel pumps, governors, distributors, carburetor systems, brakes, clutches and other such devicesRemove engines, transmissions, and major components and coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs are requiredInstall new or repaired engines, transmissions, and mechanical components back into equipment or vehiclesPerform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operationConduct minor tune-ups and adjustments to optimize performance and extend equipment service lifeTest mechanical systems such as fuel systems, cooling systems, braking systems, and drivetrain components to verify proper operationComplete accurate service documentation, repair notes, and inspection records for all work performedCoordinate with equipment manager and field personnel regarding repair status, priorities, and equipment availabilityEnsure all work complies with company policies, OSHA standards, manufacturer specifications, and jobsite safety requirementsMaintain tools, service vehicles, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe conditionPerform additional duties as assigned in support of equipment and field operationsQualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related mechanic experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience supporting construction or industrial equipmentProven mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills on cranes, forklifts, tractors, trucks, and heavy construction equipmentExperience performing diagnostics and repairs in field environments across multiple job sites, often with limited supervisionWorking knowledge of engines, transmissions, fuel systems, braking systems, cooling systems, and drivetrain componentsWelding and fabrication experience preferred for equipment repair and modificationAbility to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, diagnostic readouts, and manufacturer technical documentationStrong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with equipment manager and jobsite personnelSelf-motivated and dependable with the ability to prioritize repairs and manage multiple service callsRequirements:High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certificationValid driver's licenseRequires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperaturesPhysical ability to perform field repair work, including lifting, climbing on equipment, bending, and working in outdoor environmentsMust be able to work hours adjusted to meet the project's needs; days, nights and weekendsFor safety reasons, it is imperative that the employee be able to read and speak fluent EnglishApplicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
