Job Description
- Troubleshoot IP cameras (Axis, Hanwha, Avigilon, Ubiquiti, etc.) for PoE issues, VLAN misconfigurations, and hardware failures.
- Troubleshoot access control systems (Brivo, Paxton, S2, RS2, Avigilon, Genetec, Kaba, Kantech) for power/fuse problems, binding pressure, programming errors, and faulty strikes/maglocks.
- Work directly with customer IT departments to isolate network and infrastructure issues.
- Test and repair structured cabling, identifying bad terminations, incorrect patch-panel mappings, and verifying runs with cable testers (LinkRunner or equivalent).
- Support project teams on larger commercial and new-construction jobs, including pulling/terminating CAT6 and fiber, installing access control hardware, drilling pathways, cutting in door strikes, installing maglocks, and hanging cameras.
Requirements
- Ability to think critically in real time, research solutions, and make sound decisions.
- Strong working knowledge of at least one major access control platform.
- Experience with IP cameras and basic networking (PoE, VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting).
- Proficiency with cable testers and diagnosing physical layer issues.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to explain technical problems to both IT staff and non-technical customers.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in commercial environments.
- Previous lift and bucket-truck experience is a plus; training and certification will be provided
