Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician provides technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for SAMSON control valves and related equipment. This position supports sales teams, distributors, and end users through field-based service and technical assistance to ensure reliable product performance and customer satisfaction. The technician applies mechanical expertise and field experience to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and maintain customer equipment in accordance with company standards. Based out of our Headquarters office in Baytown, TX, you'll play a key role in upholding customer satisfaction and maintaining strong client relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of valves at Samson facilities and client locations
  • Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities and coordinate work with employees and contractors
  • Customer communication - technical assistance, troubleshooting, and determining disposition of repairs
  • Documentation of repair / testing / assembly activities - cause of failure, actions taken, parts used, labor hours, etc.
  • This position requires up to 75% travel in North America and international. Travel may be overnight travel and stay to various customer locations
  • Subject to callouts to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays
  • Utilize Samson's Digital Tools- Asset Entry, Sam Valve Management, Trovis View
  • Perform site walkdowns to collect Samson asset's data
  • Create reports using Samson positioner diagnostics and interpret maintenance recommendations

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; have strong organizational skills and eye for detail
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office applications such as Excel and Outlook as well as other computer-based work training, time reporting, expense reporting, and on-line work applications and documentation
  • Knowledge of HART Communicator or other diagnostic analyzer manufacturer (preferred)
  • Must be able to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions and team lift up to 150 pounds
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights and/or confined spaces

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree in Instrumentation or Equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a field technician
  • E & I: minimum 3 years (Preferred)

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving record.
  • TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) preferred or ability to obtain.
