Gas Detection Technician
Preferred experience includes one or more of the following: Field Service Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical or Automation Technician, Semiconductor Equipment Technician, Process Equipment Maintenance, Industrial Controls, PLCs, Mechanical troubleshooting, Electronics troubleshooting. Previous gas detection experience is a plus but not required. Has a positive attitude, learns quickly, enjoys troubleshooting technical equipment, works well independently, communicates professionally with customers, is dependable and accountable, pays close attention to detail, is safety-focused, takes pride in producing quality work, team player. Technical skills can be taught—we place a high value on attitude, work ethic, and the willingness to learn.
Job Description: This position is responsible for the startup & commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of fixed gas detection systems that protect personnel, equipment, and manufacturing operations. This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical aptitude, professionalism, and a willingness to learn. While previous gas detection experience is preferred, candidates with strong electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation, or semiconductor maintenance backgrounds are in alignment as well.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform startup and commissioning of gas detection systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on gas detection equipment.
- Calibrate and verify gas detection systems using certified calibration gases.
- Troubleshoot hardware, sensors, sampling systems, and controller issues.
- Replace sensors, filters, tubing, pumps, and other field components as required.
- Document all work performed through detailed service reports.
- Work directly with Samsung personnel and other contractors while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Support critical life safety systems to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
- Follow company procedures and Samsung site safety requirements.
- Identify potential issues before they become production impacts.
Training: Candidates will receive product training at company headquarters before being assigned to Samsung. Training includes: DOD CL96 Gas Detection Systems, Single Point Gas Detection Systems, Gas detection fundamentals, Calibration procedures, Preventive maintenance, Troubleshooting, On-site training.
