Job Description
The Field Service Engineer supports the installation, startup, and commissioning of automated equipment. This role focuses on programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, drives, servos, and robotics onsite at customers throughout the US.
The Field Service Engineer collaborates closely with electrical and mechanical teams and plays a key role in upgrading and retrofitting automation equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Job Description
The Field Service Engineer supports the installation, startup, and commissioning of automated equipment. This role focuses on programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, drives, servos, and robotics onsite at customers throughout the US.
The Field Service Engineer collaborates closely with electrical and mechanical teams and plays a key role in upgrading and retrofitting automation equipment.
- 75% travel annually
- All expenses paid, hotel, rental car, flights all booked ahead of time
- Typical travel is 5-10 days at a time
- + state per diem
- 70 hour work weeks typically when traveling, overtime over 40 hours
Responsibilities
- Assist with new automation system installations, startups, and commissioning
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, HMIs, VFDs, drives, and servos
- Perform full I/O checks and system verification
- Troubleshoot controls systems and electrical equipment onsite
- Create and implement programming changes for equipment upgrades or retrofits
- Establish communication between machines using Ethernet or hardwired signals
- Work collaboratively with mechanical and electrical installation teams
- Follow customer plant, safety, and electrical regulations while onsite
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a related field or at least 5+ years of experience
- Skills in programming/editing Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI, Drives.
- Working knowledge of National Electric Code standards
- Ability to read and redline electrical schematics
- Ability to wire machine controls and control panels
- Knowledge of palletizing and automated material handling concepts preferred
- Experience in Servos.
- Exposure to Fanuc or KUKA robotics (IPM has training for that as well)
