Field Service Engineer
GEA Systems North America LLC seeks a Field Service Engineer in Hudson, WI. Responsibilities include work focused on blow molders but overlaps to all pieces of the beverage and filling equipment. The role involves actively participating in service scheduled activities such as audit, line start-up, help desk, service work, and modifications. The engineer will carry out line/machine restarts following maintenance or modification, upgrades, retrofits, and service work. They will draw up detailed technical reports indicating the performed activities and those to be performed. The engineer will coordinate and manage on-site any potential sub-contractor external technicians, manage the technical, operational, and temporal details of each intervention in agreement and compliance with the received details, and ensure that the conditions under which they work on-site are in line with the safety standards. They will assist the CoC with development of new products and upgrades, assist the BU with input on equipment layout for new projects, and install/mechanical upgrades without CoC presence on site. The engineer will have a strong understanding of the system process for the LPT equipment, able to troubleshoot more complex process issues, lead a team on installation and/or equipment commissioning, create complex SOP's for equipment and systems, inspect, repair, test, and optimize/tune blow molders, and other beverage and filling equipment. They will install, mechanically and electrically, new blow molders, and other beverage and filling equipment, troubleshoot mechanical and process issues and problems in order to repair blow molders, and other beverage and filling equipment, write clear and thorough inspection reports and field service reports for internal and external use, recommend available upgrades and optimizations on blow molders, and other beverage and filling equipment, provide accurate estimates of labor times to complete service visits/rebuilds, and installations, commissioning, and training for new equipment and retrofits, provide technical training to customers for proper operation, preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and emergency/breakdown troubleshooting and service, initiate recommendations for improved tools, procedures, etc. for the service operations, and provide support to internal stakeholders with questions regarding parts requests, quoting, and selling upgrades. Travel up to 80% domestically and occasional international travel.
Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related (foreign equivalent acceptable) and 36 months of experience in job offered or related, including experience with liquid filling equipment, mechanical installation, service, or repair/troubleshooting experience; installing and service liquid filling and beverage equipment; troubleshooting software and electrical systems; wiring 3 phase motors, 120vac power/communication, and 24vdc communication, etc; leading teams on site; working with instruction manuals, assembly drawings, P&ID's; working with electrical and pneumatic schematics; working with blow molding equipment; ability to use bench and hand power tools; valid U.S. Driver's license required.
