PSI is seeking candidates for a full-time, Field Project Engineer. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position will work closely with the Engineering, Controls Engineering, Project Management, and Field Service departments in support of project execution. Job duties will include reviewing and support equipment design, preparing for commission, and startup.Essential Job FunctionsReview project scope, plans, specifications, and other related documentationReview and confirm alignment of project scope with plans, specifications, control panel design, piping and instrumentation diagram, including confirmation that vendor-provided electrical control panel designs and bills of materials satisfy project requirementsReview, create, and/or review process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagramsReview and confirm equipment sizing, design, and specifications are suitable for site layoutWork with project manager and vendors to review and select materials and equipment that comply with component specification documents and application requirementsCommunicate with vendors to provide clarification and details for fabricationCreate project and product documentation such as control strategies, installation guides/documentation, operations and maintenance guides/documentation (including detailed step by step operations and troubleshooting guides), startup plans, and field acceptance test plans for standard and custom projectsAssist with project submittal processes and meet with customers to resolve design issuesAssist in control system programming and provide control panel testing supportDetermine appropriate wiring diagram and parameter settings for various electrical components such as VFDs, monitors, instrumentation, and transmittersCreate project and product-training guides and presentations for projectsStart-up and commission equipment on siteMaintain positive relationships and ensure effective communications between customer(s) and project team members are maintained while on site for startupTroubleshoot field-related service issues for electrical systemsProvide technical support to both PSI team members and customersProvide project engineering support for Project Management department as neededEstablish standard practices across project startup execution for all product linesResearch, identify, and pilot test new instrumentation and devices that can be incorporated into system designsPrepare drawings, bills of materials, and other documentation needed for fabrication of sub-assembliesComply with PSI safety and personal protective equipment policies while working at company facilities and customer sites as exposure to dangerous or hazardous conditions is possibleRegular travel to customer sites to complete tasksWillingness to travel and work under a variety of weather extremesHave and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR will be run regularly)Perform other tasks as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical/chemical/civil/environmental) from an accredited college or university.Two to three years' experience engineering experience.Ability to read, interpret, and redline construction drawings, including mechanical, process, and electrical.Experience with industrial control systems – HMIs, PLCs, VFDs, AC/DC motor controls and pump system.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD 2D.Strong electrical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.Strong technical writing and both written and verbal communication skills.Detailed-oriented, organized, self-starter, and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision.Excellent time management skills.Ability and willingness to travel between facilities and to customer sites (up to 50% of the time to locations within the continental U.S. and Canada).Preferred QualificationsExperience in the municipal water and/or wastewater industries.Knowledge of NFPA and UL standards.Familiarity with Great Plains ERP and Salesforce software.Physical DemandsAbility to sit for long periods of time.Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Ability to lift and/or move up to 25lbs.Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.Work EnvironmentAt least 25% office setting.Up to 25% light industrial.Up to 50% customer jobsites.May be exposed to a variety of weather elements as well as areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals. and industrial facilities.Exposure to liquid and dry chemicals and substances associated with water and wastewater treatment, including permanganate, polymers, sodium hypochlorite, and liquid ammonium sulfate, among others.Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary range for this position is $90,000 and $120,000.
