Field Cost EngineerWe are seeking a Field Cost Engineer to support a major transportation infrastructure project in downtown Los Angeles. Reporting to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer, this role involves performing both routine and complex cost and estimating assignments. The position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of project reporting and cost control activities.Key ResponsibilitiesReview owner-directed extra work documentation for completeness and accuracyDevelop scope of work packages including narratives, checklists, and quantity take-offsSolicit subcontractor and vendor quotations and manage change order documentationAnalyze subcontractor/vendor proposals for scope accuracy (quantities, schedule, inclusions/exclusions)Prepare price analysis sheets and cost proposals for client submissionSupport development of cost and schedule proposals in coordination with operations teamsAssist with change order negotiations and finalize pricing and termsContribute to subcontractor/vendor agreements and procurement processesDevelop and maintain project budgets, including tracking costs, coding invoices, and monitoring progressManage multiple changes simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentInterpret construction documents and define scopes of workCoordinate subcontractor activities and monitor schedule completionReview and manage submittals, RFIs, and construction work packagesMaintain assigned contract specification sectionsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management3–5 years of experience in heavy civil construction or cost/estimating roles (or equivalent combination of training and experience)Knowledge of cost control techniques such as cost accounting and budget analysisUnderstanding of construction systems, structures, and methodologiesFamiliarity with construction safety standards and OSHA requirementsStrong organizational, time management, and communication skillsDetail-oriented with the ability to identify discrepanciesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)Experience with take-off and estimating software is a plusPreferred ExperienceFixed price, design-build, or self-perform estimatingGovernment project experienceExperience with sitework, concrete, utilities, systems, or railBenefits PEAK's benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Savings Account (DCA), and 401K plan.
