Field Applications Engineer – Magnetic Semiconductor ComponentsThe US Technical Center at ROHM Semiconductor has an immediate opportunity for a Field Applications Engineer – specialization in magnetic semiconductor components. We are seeking a dynamic and talented physics or electronics engineering graduate who will be responsible for supporting technical topics for different customers. They will work on magnetic components such as Hall effect sensors for consumer and industrial applications, with emphasis on device design, processing, and reliability.

They will lead technical engagements for customers on current and next generation technical requirements and work with internal engineering team in Japan to provide solutions.This is an exciting role to develop technical and customer facing skills required for an engineering career in the semiconductor and consumer electronics industry. ROHM is committed to having a diverse workplace and invites you to join our team!Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily to include but not limited to:Present detailed technical product presentations to key customer engineers at different level in multiple meetings, working toward design-in of ROHM productsDeep technical strengths in device physics of magnetic semiconductor componentsStrong communication skills; should find it enjoyable working with engineers and technologyWork closely with colleagues in engineering, sales and marketing teams to provide technical support during all stages of the product life cycleWork closely with customers during the design phase, understanding the full scope of the customers' requirements to help guide the development teamsWork closely with the development teams to assist in the validation processParticipate in new product design reviews both internally and externallyParticipate in supporting factory audits and customer visits internationallyQualificationsRequired Skills:Strong knowledge of semiconductor device processing and core electrical engineering conceptsTechnical background and knowledge of: Magnetic device design, process and characterization: Magnetic sensor design and modeling; Si or compound semiconductor front and back-end process technology; device characterizations such as sensitivity, linearity, temperature and noise characterizationPrior customer engagement experiences with ability to make detailed technical presentations in concise and timely manner to customersFluent in both English and Japanese (written/oral) for technical engagements with our Japanese counterpartsAbility to travel internationally as much at 5~6x/year to accommodate customer visits and factory auditsFlexible work schedule to with accommodate evening conference calls, emails, and text communications with customerPreferred Requirements/Skills:Experience in failure analyses and reliability of device physicsFailure analysis equipment knowledges such as SEM/EDX, OBIRCH, FT-IR spectroscopyAbility to highlight technical gaps between customer requests and internal capabilities in resolving issuesDemonstrated experience in successful customer and team relationshipsStrong analytical skillsEducation/Training and Experience:Advanced Degrees in Electrical Engineering or Semiconductor Device Physics; or applicable major or equivalent combination of education/training and work experience, or equivalent industry work experience is a minimum requirement3+ year's current work history and demonstrated skills & background application/device engineering in the semiconductor industryProficient verbal and written English language.
