Field Applications EngineerAs a Field Applications Engineer, you serve as the primary technical interface between customers and Design engineering, operations, and sales teams. You provide technical leadership for passive fiber optic interconnect solutions including cable assemblies, MPO/MTP systems, ruggedized assemblies, custom harnesses, optical backplanes, and other passive optical products for aerospace, defense, datacenter, medical, industrial, and telecommunications markets. Working closely with Business Development and Engineering, you support design-in activities, product selection, qualification, manufacturing readiness, and long-term customer success while ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Develop trusted technical relationships with customer engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.Recommend passive optical assemblies, cable assemblies, MPO/MTP solutions, termini, harnesses, and custom fiber optic interconnects based on application requirements.Support design reviews, optical loss budgets, connector selection, routing, environmental qualification, and manufacturing considerations.Provide application support throughout concept, prototype, qualification, production, and sustainment.Prepare technical proposals, specifications, compliance matrices, qualification plans, white papers, and application notes.Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations, and technical training.Support root-cause investigations involving insertion loss, return loss, end-face quality, contamination, polishing, and assembly processes.Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and sales to resolve customer issues and support quotations.Identify new product opportunities and emerging passive optical technologies.Travel to customer locations as required.Identify opportunities for product range extension and provide product training as requiredTranslate customer needs, quality requirements, and service expectations into actionable items, facilitating rapid resolution of technical issuesQualifications:Bachelors Degree (Engineering)Experience may substitute for some of the above educationIntermediate Level: 3+ years supporting fiber optic interconnects, passive optical assemblies, or electro-optical productsSpecific job skills, specialized knowledge or certifications:Determine business needs through consultation, business analysis, and targeted observationsDeliver effective and persuasive presentations on complex or controversial topicsConduct analyses tailored to customer requirements and provide actionable insightsManage and customize product development, including full custom and standard solutionsPropose solutions to optimize processes, products, and tools, leveraging knowledge from previous projectsBuild and maintain strong communication and relationships with external partners, including customer site visitsApply engineering science and technology knowledge to design and produce goods and services, using appropriate principles, techniques, procedures, and equipmentManage accounts and maintain knowledge of company clients and their industriesUnderstand company industries and specific customer sectors to support strategic decision-makingProvide excellent customer service by responding timely to needs, addressing concerns, and managing expectationsIdentify and pursue business development opportunities, including cultivating partnerships, exploring new markets, and supporting growth initiativesStrong understanding of single-mode and multimode fiber, MPO/MTP connectivity, connector inspection, insertion/return loss, polishing, and optical testing.Travel: 6 -20%
