About This Role


The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting research in identification of the role of neurons in monocyte and macrophage activation and antimicrobial responses. The essential work includes in vivo and in vitro work in mice, isolation and culture of monocytes and macrophages, conducting infection and challenge experiments in primary cells and mice. Additional area of research will involve conducting gene expression analyses (qPCR and RNAseq), and flow cytometry and cell sorting. Some efforts will also be directed at mice breeding, weaning and genotyping, and method optimization and training new lab members.


Previous hands-on experience in immunology techniques, molecular biology, and macrophage biology is required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed


Minimum Qualifications


  • PhD in Immunology/Molecular biology/Microbiology. The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Hands-on skills working with tissue-resident immune cell population.
  • Skills in single cell RNAseq and bioinformatics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
