Job Description
Delivery & Transport
- Operate bulk feed or bagged feed straight trucks to deliver product to producers and company locations throughout the trade territory
- Receive nutrition orders from the mills; prepare truck and load customized bulk feed into correct internal compartments
- Assist in mixing and grinding feed as needed prior to delivery
- Operate internal auger upon arrival to unload feed into areas designated by the producer
- Submit delivery tickets to customers and assigned location for billing
- Load and deliver bagged nutrition products by hand or forklift; assist in unloading at company locations
- Fasten and secure all loads before transit; maintain product transport documentation throughout each delivery
- Complete and submit daily mileage and fuel reports as required
Warehouse & Mill Support
- Organize and store bagged feed and seed properly in the warehouse
- Monitor feed quantities and notify the Location Manager when product needs to be reordered
- Fix broken bags; load feed or seed into customer vehicles as needed
- Perform general cleaning and preventive maintenance of mill and warehouse areas
Vehicle Inspections & Maintenance
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections checking lights, turn signals, tires, lug-nuts, air pressure, horn, wipers, oil, antifreeze, belts, brakes, and fifth wheel coupler
- Report unsafe equipment or major mechanical issues to a supervisor; record all repairs in the DOT inspection report
- Perform or assist with routine maintenance including oil changes, filters, lights, belts, wiper blades, and grease fittings
- Keep vehicle clean inside and out to promote a positive company image
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety standards and comply with OSHA, DOT, state, and federal regulations
- Obey all traffic laws; drive defensively and within posted speed limits; stop at railroad crossings when required
- Renew CDL license and endorsements on time; attend safety workshops and review technical publications
- Greet customers promptly and courteously; escalate unresolved complaints to supervisor as needed
Qualifications
CDL Class B required; CDL Class A accepted
Minimum one year of straight truck or tractor-trailer driving experience
No major accidents or violations within the last 24 months
Must pass a physical and substance abuse test
Able to read and interpret work orders, gauges, maps, weigh tickets, and delivery tickets
Able to write DOT inspection reports, mileage and fuel reports, and work orders
Basic math skills including proportions, percentages, and volume
Must be able to travel within the trade territory
