Federal Claim Specialist

Job TitlePrimary duties will include reviewing and establishing Military (UCX) and Federal (UCFE) claims and assisting the DUA (Disaster Unemployment Assistance) Coordinator in the Federal Programs Unit. Use federal guidance to issue monetary and non-monetary determinations for these programs in compliance with Federal regulations, MDES laws, and regulations. Establish combined wage claims monetarily and process Combined Wage Options. Identify, calculate, and write up overpayment information related to combined wage claims.

Provide customer service to Intrastate claimants, Interstate claimants, and representatives from other state agencies. Take unemployment claims, identify eligibility issues, non-monetary investigations/adjudications, audit work search activity, provide customers with information on unemployment claims, online support, and perform other unemployment insurance eligibility-related duties. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends if needed.

Some travel may be required.This is a Non-State, Part-Time (11) position.What You'll Need To Be SuccessfulExcellent customer service and interpersonal skills, along with good verbal/written communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills. Must be computer literate and can work independently and with others. Must have a commitment to quality and accountability, and a broad knowledge of MDES laws, regulations, programs, and agency policies.Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience.
