Overview
A community hospital-affiliated Family Medicine residency program is seeking a Faculty Physician to help train the next generation of family medicine physicians. This opportunity is open to experienced faculty as well as new graduates interested in a Faculty Development Fellowship, and no prior GME experience is required. The role combines direct patient care with resident education, offering a meaningful path into academic medicine.
What you'll do
- Provide full spectrum continuity patient care in an outpatient Family Medicine clinic
- Precept residents and deliver didactic lectures
- Collaborate with core faculty on program projects, development, and innovation
- Create and deliver curriculum for the residency program
- Teach and supervise residents learning to provide full spectrum Family Medicine care
- Teach and supervise residents providing low risk prenatal and postpartum care
- Opportunity to teach and supervise residents in in-patient care and low risk obstetrics
- Learn foundational principles of graduate medical education with the goal of becoming an effective faculty member (for those without prior GME experience)
Required qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
- Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFM)
- Valid Georgia Medical License or participation in Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
- Passion for teaching and supervising residents
- Interest in learning the foundational principles of graduate medical education (if new to GME)
