Faculty Psychiatrist

The Division of Adult Acute Psychiatry in the University of Rochester Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full time psychiatrist to work in an emergency psychiatry setting and adult inpatient units. This position provides an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team offering acute psychiatric care, clinical supervision, and teaching for psychiatric residents and medical students. The role includes an academic appointment with the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and a medical staff appointment at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Practice Info

• Emergency psychiatry setting (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program or CPEP) and adult inpatient units
• Over 9,000 visits per year providing emergency psychiatric services
• Includes a dedicated behavioral health space, Extended Observation Beds unit, a Mobile Crisis Team, and a Crisis Stabilization Hub
• Adult units expanding to 66 beds across 4 units including a psych ICU unit

Responsibilities

• Provide acute psychiatric care in CPEP and adult inpatient units
• Teaching and clinical supervision of psychiatric residents and medical students

Compensation

• Nationally competitive base salary
• Bonus/moonlighting opportunities
• Annual total salary ranges: Sr. Instructor $209,000 - $260,264, Assistant Professor $221,350 - $287,611, Associate Professor $243,200 - $315,271
• Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable

Qualifications

• Must possess an MD or equivalent degree
• ABPN board certified (or board eligible) in General Psychiatry at minimum
• Must obtain NYS physician licensure prior to start
• Must have an unrestricted DEA prior to start
• Hiring will require a pre-hire health clearance appointment completed in Rochester, NY at least three weeks prior to start
