Faculty Physician, Internal Medicine Residency - Primary Care

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine Physician to join their Adult Primary Care Clinic as an Attending Faculty Physician with leadership responsibilities in Hartford, Connecticut. This unique opportunity combines academic medicine, resident teaching, and primary care within a thriving clinic located adjacent to Hartford Hospital. The role offers dedicated protected time for clinical leadership within the UConn Internal Medicine Residency Program and ambulatory operations.

Practice Info

• Adult primary care clinic located adjacent to Hartford Hospital
• Integrated behavioral health services
• High-risk nurse care managers and social workers
• 2.5 clinical support staff per physician
• EPIC EMR with Dragon dictation and secure HIPAA-compliant messaging
• LEAN Daily Management to optimize workflow and staff engagement

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient internal medicine and primary care
• Conduct active resident teaching within the University of Connecticut residency program
• Handle patient follow-ups and care coordination
• Contribute to residency program leadership through curriculum innovation, mentorship, recruitment, and advancing a culture of excellence in training
• Partner in clinic leadership to enhance access, elevate quality, and design patient-centered models of care across the ambulatory continuum
• Engage in high-impact institutional and system-wide initiatives spanning quality, population health, and care delivery transformation
• Build an academic identity as an educator and leader through scholarly work, program development, and academic advancement

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time schedule
• 8 half-day clinic sessions per week
• Dedicated academic time
• Approximately 5 weekends per year of inpatient coverage
• Flexible scheduling with infrequent call

Requirements

• Physician Board Certified /Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
• Faculty experience
• CT Medical License (or eligible)
