Facility Technician II - Plumbing SpecialistService Center - Webster Groves, MO 63119OverviewSalary Range $ School YearPrimary Objective: We are seeking a highly skilled plumber with experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems. While plumbing is the primary focus, this role also requires proficiency in basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, along with general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, electrical, and other facility repairs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and comfortable environments across all school facilities.

The role reports directly to the facilities coordinator. Essential functions:Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, venting, fixtures, and piping (both commercial and residential-grade systems)Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems to ensure proper operation and code complianceRespond promptly to work orders and emergency plumbing issuesDiagnose, repair, and maintain basic HVAC components such as thermostats, air filters, exhaust fans, and ventilation systemsUse diagnostic tools and building automation systems (BAS) to monitor and optimize HVAC performance (experience with BAS systems preferred)Identify and resolve leaks, clogs, and other plumbing failuresPerform general building maintenance and repairs, including:Carpentry: Minor repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, cabinetry, and fixturesElectrical: Replacing outlets, switches, lighting, and troubleshooting electrical componentsPlumbing: Repairing faucets, toilets, valves, piping, and drainage systemsUse diagnostic tools and plumbing/HVAC-specific equipment to identify issuesCollaborate with contractors, vendors, and facilities staff to coordinate repairs and maintenanceMaintain documentation of maintenance and repair activitiesManage materials, tools, and parts needed for plumbing, HVAC, and general repairsQualifications:Minimum 5 years of hands-on service and troubleshooting experience in plumbing, with basic HVAC knowledge, in a commercial or institutional setting (e.g., schools, office buildings)Proven ability to perform building maintenance tasks across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and basic HVAC disciplinesExperience with plumbing codes, HVAC systems, and building automation systems preferredExperience with CMMS programs to complete and generate work ordersStrong understanding of plumbing diagnostics and basic HVAC control systemsMust be able to:Work safely at heights and in confined spacesEndure physical tasks including standing, kneeling, lifting (up to 100 lbs), and working in extreme temperaturesOperate hand and power tools safely and effectivelyEducation and Certifications:High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school preferredValid plumbing license or certification preferredAdditional certifications in electrical, HVAC, or carpentry trades are a plusCompensation: Commensurate with experience and education Benefits: Eligible FLSA Status: Non-exemptWEBSTER GROVES SCHOOL DISTRICT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER & E-VERIFY PARTICIPANTWGSD District Code of Conduct
