The OpportunityAvantor is looking for a Facility Maintenance Technician to join our team in Bakersfield, CA. This person will be responsible for keeping the facility safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations.Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 6:00am-2:30pm.How you will thrive and create an impact:Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the building and facilities to include painting, performing minor crack repairs on concrete floors, plumbing work (toilets, sinks) and sprinkler work.Works with contractors (setting up the paper work and following up on progress made throughout the job being performed).Walks the facility and pinpoints areas for improvements to be made.Performs minor construction or landscaping tasks.Performs maintenance or general carpentry on items such as lifts, HVAC systems, alarm system, fire/sprinkler systems, overhead doors, floors, dock equipment, power generators, backflow valves, lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.What we're looking for:Education: High School diploma or equivalent degree.Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of maintenance, mechanical or electrical experience in an industrial or related environment.Must be able to work on gearboxes, agitators, and pumps.Equipment/facility maintenance, technical understanding, basic safety, and power tools knowledge.Knowledge of process piping, auto valves, exhaust/dust collection systems, steam generation systems, and screw/belt conveyors.Additional Qualifications:Thorough understanding of maintenance, reliability, Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance, and Process Safety Management best practices, preferred.Experience working in an ISO Certified, FDA Regulated, or cGMP environment preferred.Preferred industry experience with machine set-up fundamentals and solid troubleshooting skills.Good written and oral communication skills.Ability to repair electrical/mechanical machinery throughout the plant; necessary skills include: electrical, pneumatics, PLC logic, welding.ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work environment characteristics and physical effort described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
