Janitorial And Light Maintenance WorkerDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Monitors building and grounds for necessary cleaning or maintenance work.Assesses, repairs, refers and coordinates needed repairs.Assembles and replaces light fixtures, partitions and makes repairs or adjustments to desks, chairs and work stations as needed.Oversees and assists in moving and arranging furniture, supplies, and equipment, confidential papers and files.Moves files to storage, delivers and picks up supplies and bulk items,Maintains vendor and service contacts and primary contact with public works for maintenance jobs such as air conditioning system.Reviews county cars assigned to the agency to determine need for repair or retirement from fleet.Observes and reports repairs needed to the building and equipment.Oversees assigned work program participants and extra help janitorial staff.Trains workers on safety practices and equipment use and ensures proper safety procedures and equipment are used during the course of cleanup work.Responsible for the security of the crew and for equipment maintenance and minor repairs.Prepares reports on projects completed and crew assignments.Minimum Qualifications:Experience: Two (2) years of responsible janitorial and light maintenance work. License: Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain.Essential Functions:Communicate effectively with others in person and over the telephone.Analyze data, interpret directions, procedures and regulations, and develop appropriate responses.Perform job duties under stressful conditions.Respond appropriately to situations.Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or County regulations.Conduct inspections under various environmental conditions.Lift and move with help objects weighing up to 50 pounds.Frequent use of depth perception, peripheral vision and color perception.Frequently lift, carry, reach, push, pull, twist and manipulate large and small objects.Kneel, bend, twist, squat, balance and crawl.Frequent use of hand-eye coordination.Repetitive hand and arm motion.Normal dexterity, frequent holding and grasping.Sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.Regular attendance is an essential function.Knowledge of:Building, grounds and equipment maintenance techniques, methods and practices.Safety practices and accident preventionPreventive maintenance principles, techniques and routinesBasic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, plumbing and other associated repair/maintenance trades.Ability to:Understand and carry out oral and written directions.Work independently on a wide variety of assignments in maintenance, janitorial, grounds keeping, vehicle and utility services.Oversee and direct the work of assigned workers.Read and write English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.Identify malfunctions or defects in equipment.Establish and maintain cooperative relationship with others.Effectively schedule the work of others.Provide training and guidance.Understand and work from sketches, blueprints and drawings.
