Facilities Trade Technician (Helper Level)The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Facilities Trade Technician (Helper Level) to support the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of district facilities to ensure they are safe, operational, and conducive to teaching and learning. This role performs a variety of tasks in general maintenance and trade assistance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical support.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED preferredTwo (2) years' experience in general maintenance, trades, or facilities operationsWorking knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in one or more of the following trades: painting, carpentry, pressure washing, door hardware, HVAC, plumbing, or electricalMust have valid Georgia Driver's license, and maintain a good driving recordSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriateSkills and Abilities:Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manualsPhysically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and performing manual labor for extended periodsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholdersPerformance Responsibilities:General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, basic carpentry, pressure washing, and door hardware repairs; Assist skilled technicians with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and roofing repairs; Support maintenance and upkeep of building exteriors, sidewalks, parking lots, and roof debris removal.Tools, Equipment & Safety: Operate and maintain hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner; Follow district safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times; Keep tools and equipment organized, clean, and in good working order.Technical Support & Documentation: Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and specifications as required; Accurately document completed work, materials used, and hours worked using district maintenance software or assigned forms.Professionalism & Collaboration: Maintain a professional appearance and represent the Facilities Department with integrity; Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with school staff, students, contractors, and community members; Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to complete tasks efficiently.Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Services Supervisor or department leadership.Physical Requirements:Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and lift heavy objects. May work in indoor or outdoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather or at elevated heights.Reports To:Technical Services SupervisorSalary Range:12 Month Employee.
