In this hands-on position, you will apply your technical skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair essential building systems that support the daily life of our university community. You will work with a wide range of systems, including HVACR, steam, plumbing, electrical, and control systems, while contributing to a safe, reliable, and high-performing facilities environment. Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:Maintain, repair, and install HVACR systems, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipmentDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair steam and hot water boiler systems, including pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, pressure-reducing stations, air compressors, and water softenersPerform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning systems according to manufacturer guidelinesInstall, maintain, and repair electrical systems up to 600VAC, including panels, breakers, switchgear, motors, lighting systems, and related componentsTroubleshoot and repair building automation and control systems, including sensors, regulators, pneumatic controls, humidity and temperature controls, and valvesInstall and maintain plumbing and piping systems, including cutting, threading, assembling, and fitting gas, water, and sanitation linesPerform pipefitting and insulation work for steam and water distribution systemsFollow all safety procedures, codes, and best practices to ensure a safe work environmentLift and move materials weighing up to 60–90 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationsPerform tasks requiring standing for extended periods, working in confined spaces, and utilizing various tools. Safely climb and work from different types of ladders to access elevated or below-grade areas (such as roofs, above-ceiling spaces, and utility pits). Be exposed to and work in areas where insects or small animals are occasionally present. All essential tasks must be performed with or without reasonable accommodationsCommunicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public, and follow verbal and written instructions related to work assignments and operational needsOther Responsibilities - Participates in a quarterly on-call rotation, maintaining 24/7 responsiveness for one-week increments approximately every 10 to 14 weeks. Maintains availability to work overtime or adjusted shifts as required to address emergencies and unforeseen operational needs. Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum Experience/Education - High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s). Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated understanding of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems, including operation, maintenance, and repair. Working knowledge of electrical systems up to 600VAC, including motors, switchgear, panels, and building automation/control systems. Ability to independently diagnose complex equipment and system issues and implement effective, timely repairs.

Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including piping, valves, fittings, and steam/water distribution systems.
