Facilities Maintenance Technician ApprenticeWe are seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician Apprentice at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance team in basic repair of a variety of equipment in Manufacturing, Warehousing/Shipping, and other facilities.

This role also maintains appearance of Garmin aircraft in some locations.Essential FunctionsAssist Maintenance Technicians with daily basic maintenance and preventative maintenance and/or work orders in electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration and plumbing to support OperationsAssist with basic preventative maintenance, inspection and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment for defects and assist with repairs as necessaryMaintain maintenance records by completing daily logs, recordings and pertinent information necessary for documentationExecute plans made by the supervisor or mentor while providing regular status updatesUtilize power & hand tools in accordance with safety rules and regulationsSuccessfully demonstrate knowledge of E-Scrap, recycling collection and disposal, conveyor system preventative maintenance, manufacturing production equipment preventative maintenance, and housekeepingAssist outside contractors, when necessary, in the maintenance of the physical plantAssist with controlling expendituresMaintain appropriate spare parts inventory for equipmentCompletely execute Lock Out/Tag Out of equipmentMust be able to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 200 lbs., climb ladders, squat, kneel, crawl, stand an entire shift and walk long distances throughout the facility in performance of essential functionsCleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards.Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experiencePrevious machinery operation experienceMust demonstrate basic knowledge of machine automation systemsMust demonstrate basic knowledge of safe manufacturing /warehouse operationDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitudeDemonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office SuiteMust be able to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 200 lbs., climb ladders, squat, kneel, crawl, stand an entire shift and walk long distances throughout the facility in performance of essential functionsDesired QualificationsTechnical school certification in electronics, industrial or maintenance technology or related facilities degreeRefrigerant licenseGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
