Title: Facilities Environmental & Sustainability Engineer
Location: Middle River, MD
Pay Rate: $35-45/hr (potential flexibility based on experience)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-3+ years of experience with facility sustainability, energy management, and/or environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting.
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
Plusses:
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- LEED certification preferred.
Position Overview
The Facilities Environmental & Sustainability Engineer will lead projects focused on improving energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental compliance across facility operations. This person will analyze energy usage, identify improvement opportunities, and implement projects that reduce energy, water consumption, waste, and environmental impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead energy and sustainability projects involving HVAC, lighting, electrical systems, solar, battery storage, and water conservation.
- Analyze electricity, gas, and water usage and identify opportunities for savings.
- Conduct energy audits, environmental assessments, and facility walkthroughs.
- Manage and optimize building automation systems (BAS).
- Track and report sustainability metrics including GHG emissions, energy usage, water consumption, and waste.
- Support recycling, waste reduction, and renewable energy initiatives.
- Partner with facilities, maintenance, and construction teams on sustainable building improvements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits, including NPDES and RCRA.
