Facilities CoordinatorRE-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated, dependable, and solution-oriented Facilities Coordinator to oversee and support the daily maintenance operations of district facilities and grounds. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained learning environments for students, staff, and the community. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organization, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and customer service.The maintenance coordinator will establish a vision with their staff that the appearance and cleanliness of our school buildings and grounds will be a source of pride in our community.

The position requires a customer service approach to provide the necessary environment for students, staff, and the community to create an optimal learning space.Reports To: District SuperintendentSalary Range & Category: $24.61/hour to $31.28/hour (depending on experience) on Classified Hourly Salary ScheduleFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWork Calendar: 260 days (Monday-Friday)FTE: 1.0 Full-time with benefitsPosition Summary: The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and participating in the maintenance, repair, and operational upkeep of district facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position supports safe and efficient school operations through preventative maintenance, staff coordination, vendor communication, and facility oversight.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Leadership & CoordinationCoordinate daily maintenance operations across district facilitiesAssist with assigning and prioritizing work orders and maintenance requestsSupervise and support maintenance personnel as assignedCommunicate effectively with building administrators and district staff regarding maintenance needsAssist in developing preventative maintenance schedules and long-range facility planningFacility MaintenancePerform and oversee repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenanceInspect district facilities and identify repair or safety concernsCoordinate seasonal maintenance and grounds upkeepMonitor building systems to ensure proper operation and efficiencyAssist with setup and teardown for district events and activitiesSafety & ComplianceMaintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal safety regulationsEnsure safe operation and maintenance of tools, equipment, and district facilitiesSupport inspections, emergency preparedness, and facility security proceduresMaintain records related to maintenance, inspections, repairs, and complianceInventory & PurchasingMonitor maintenance inventory and suppliesAssist with obtaining quotes and coordinating vendor servicesRecommend repairs, equipment replacement, and facility improvementsMaintain cost-conscious and efficient use of district resourcesAdditional Responsibilities:Respond to emergency maintenance situations as neededAssist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, and district operational needsPerform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designeeKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and repair methodsAbility to supervise and coordinate staff effectivelyStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate professionally with staff, vendors, students, and the publicAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesKnowledge of workplace safety procedures and practicesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent requiredTrade school, technical certification, or related coursework preferredMinimum of three years of maintenance or facilities experience preferredSupervisory experience preferredPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and lift frequentlyAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularlyAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to operate district vehicles, tools, and maintenance equipmentRE-1 Valley School District is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
