A Fabric Solution Architect designs, implements, and governs end-to-end data and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric . This role bridges business requirements with technical architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms leveraging Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science, Real‑Time Intelligence, and Power BI .

Key Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end data architecture using Microsoft Fabric
  • Design Lakehouse architectures (Delta Lake, Medallion layers: Bronze, Silver, Gold)
  • Architect data integration, ingestion, transformation, and serving layers
  • Define architecture patterns for batch, streaming, and real‑time data processing

Platform Implementation

  • Lead implementation of:
    • Fabric Workspaces & governance model
    • Data Pipelines & Dataflows Gen2
    • Notebooks (Spark‑based engineering workloads)
    • Data Warehouse & Lakehouse solutions
  • Configure and optimize OneLake data management

Data Modeling & Analytics

  • Establish best practices for data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling)
  • Enable self‑service BI and governed analytics

Integration & Ecosystem

  • Integrate Fabric with:
    • Azure services (ADLS, Synapse, Azure SQL, Event Hub, etc.)
    • External data sources (ERP, CRM, APIs)
  • Design hybrid/multi‑cloud data integration where required

Security & Governance

  • Implement data governance, lineage, and cataloging
  • Define role‑based access control (RBAC) and data security strategies
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise data policies

Performance Optimization

  • Query performance
  • Cost efficiency (capacity planning)
  • Data storage strategies
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Fabric environments
  • Work closely with:
    • Business stakeholders
    • Data engineers, analysts, and scientists
    • IT and cloud teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship
  • Drive design reviews and architecture governance

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric / Synapse / Azure Data Platform
  • Data Lakehouse architecture
  • Spark / PySpark
  • SQL & Data Warehousing (MPP systems)
  • Experience with:
    • Data Pipelines / ETL/ELT frameworks
    • Power BI (advanced modeling, DAX)

Cloud & Data Expertise

  • Knowledge of:
    • Data ingestion tools (ADF, Fabric pipelines)
    • Streaming technologies (Kafka/Event Hub)
    • Delta Lake & parquet formats

Architecture Skills

  • Data governance frameworks (Purview preferred)
  • Scalable and cost‑optimized solution design
  • Strong stakeholder communication
  • Solution‑oriented thinking
  • Leadership and mentoring capability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certifications (highly desirable):
    • DP‑600: Fabric Analytics Engineer
    • DP‑203: Data Engineering on Azure
    • PL‑300: Power BI Data Analyst
  • Experience with AI/ML integration within Fabric
  • Familiarity with DevOps (CI/CD for data platforms)
