Job Overview
Lead the first line flight test engineering department for the F‑16 and related fighter development test fleet at Edwards AFB, CA. Oversee workflow and provide leadership to a multi‑functional team of 12‑15 engineering professionals.
Responsibilities
- Manage the testing workflow for developmental‑test F‑16 aircraft on the flight line and in the mission control room.
- Conduct Root Cause Corrective and Preventive Action (RCCPA) of vehicle system issues.
- Coordinate test fleet modifications, weight and balance activities, ground test events, and electromagnetic compatibility testing.
- Maintain frequent communication across the enterprise to support operational and test requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM field, or equivalent experience supporting military aviation in an operational or flight test environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑functional teams in an aviation environment.
- Knowledge and application of airworthiness concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- US Citizen status required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance with access to special programs.
Desired Skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with access to special programs.
- F-16 or fighter development flight test experience.
- Current F-16 program access.
- Prior Lead Engineer experience or demonstrated team leadership in a technical or operational field.
- Knowledge of F-16 or fighter aircraft flight line operations.
- Mission Control Room (MCR) certification/qualifications and experience for fighter aircraft.
- Previous experience coordinating engineering support of operational and/or test aircraft.
- MS in a STEM field (preferred).
Security Clearance
Requires a Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred). US Citizen status is required for consideration.

Compensation
Annual base salary range: $128,400 – $226,435 (varies by state). Salary determined by qualifications, experience, and market factors.
Work Schedule
4 × 10‑hour day, 3 days off per week. The position is onsite full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility.
