Extrusion Operator Assistant

Extrusion Operator AssistantWe are looking for an energetic, and detail-oriented individual to fill our Extrusion Operator Assistant role. The Extrusion Operator Assistant will assist in machine set-up for orders, safely help operate machines to production target, waste, and quality standards. Help with troubleshooting machine when it is down or not performing to standards.

This position reports to the Department Supervisor.Duties/Responsibilities:Assist in setting up machine to specifications outlined on the orderAssist in setting up machine to standard time and procedureHelps operate machine within standard production targets and waste limitsAssists in troubleshooting machine when down or not performing to standardAssists maintenance with machine repairs and preventive maintenanceResponsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the machine is consistent with the policies and procedures which make up the Quality SystemContinuously improve the process as an individual and as a team memberEnsures work area is kept clean according to facility and corporate standardsEnsures all environmental standards and requirements are metSupports and maintains all activities related to Food Safety System (SQF), such as machine center cleaning schedules, checklists, and auditsAll other activities as assigned by department managerRequirementsMinimum Position Qualifications/Requirements:Experience in a manufacturing environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with a diverse audience at various levelsExcellent time management and organizational skills.Strong organizational and problem-solving skillsDetail oriented and commitment to follow through to completion.Strong interpersonal skills; Strong team playerAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.Manufacturing experience preferredPreferred Skills/Qualifications & Education:Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentSelf-directed and independent with strong communication skills6-12 months of plastics, extrusion, or related industry.Education and Experience:High School Diploma required.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:Employees may be required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlSpecific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.Must be able to spend extended time sitting on a forklift.Must be physically capable of spending long hours outdoors or in a warehouse environment.Ability to perform general to advanced machine maintenanceMust be "fit for duty".Able to walk a minimum of 5,000 steps per day.
