DOE8am-4:30pm training then will go to:Monday-Wednesday or Monday-Thursday 7:30PM-7:30AMPermanent role with full benefits including 401k matching and separate contribution available on the 1st of the month following date of hireBartlet, IL 60103Job DescriptionExtrusion Machine Operator Lead Extrusion OperatorEssential Job Duties:Assign tasks to assistant operators to ensure workflow efficiencyProvide guidance and training to new assistant operatorsAct as the first point of escalation for technical, process and safety issuesTrack productivity for the teamMonitor blending of materialsFill in for Shift Supervisor as neededMachine Setup & OperationSet up extrusion lines according to production orders and specificationsOperate extrusion machines safely and efficientlyAdjust machine settings to maintain product quality and minimize wasteQuality ControlMonitor product dimensions, appearance, and physical propertiesPerform regular quality checks and document resultsIdentify and correct defects or inconsistencies in the productMaintenance & TroubleshootingPerform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipmentTroubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issuesReport major equipment malfunctions to maintenance teamDocumentation & ReportingMaintain accurate production records, including material usage and downtimeComplete shift reports and communicate with incoming/outgoing operatorsSafety & ComplianceFollow all safety protocols and wear required PPEEnsure compliance with company policies and industry regulationsCoach assistant operators and other employees on working safely at all timesRequired Qualifications and Education:High School diploma or GED2+ years operating an extruder, ideally sheet and/or film extrusion operationsMust be able to read, write and speak in English to follow work order instructions, record process data and communicate with all levels from operators to managementPrevious experience in a manufacturing environmentBasic math skills to calculate and enter roll data on appropriate forms, material weight, read work instructions, monitors, etc.Must be able to work and lead in a team environmentMust be able to learn troubleshooting machines, operation of controls, etc.Sufficient visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect rolls produced for defectsPossess good mechanical aptitude and safety awareness/attitudeMust follow safety protocols, procedures, and wear PPE as required and lead by example throughout the department
