Job Overview
A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Attorney to join its Intellectual Property Practice in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have over three years of relevant experience and a strong technical background to support a diverse client base in patent prosecution and strategic IP management.
Duties
- Draft, prosecute, and manage domestic and international patent applications.
- Conduct patentability searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Develop strategic IP portfolio management for clients.
- Counsel clients on complex issues under 35 U.S.C. §§ 101, 102, 103, and 112.
- Collaborate on post-grant proceedings and patent litigation matters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing of at least one state bar.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- 3+ years of patent prosecution experience.
- Strong technical background in relevant fields.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and strategic thinking.
Education
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Skills
- Strong technical background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
