Medical Collector - Insurance ARThe Medical Collector - Insurance AR - is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement by working directly with insurance companies, government payers, and patients. This role focuses on resolving outstanding balances, managing insurance aging, and maintaining clear documentation to support revenue cycle operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in healthcare collections and billing processes.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and work assigned insurance aging reports to resolve outstanding claimsContact insurance companies regarding past-due balances and follow up on unpaid claimsResearch, re-file, and resolve denied or delayed claims to ensure maximum reimbursementCommunicate with insurance carriers to determine reasons for payment delaysFile appeals with insurance companies as neededPost non-payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the systemRespond to patient inquiries regarding account balances and billing questionsDocument all communications with insurance companies and patients thoroughlySort, scan, and file correspondence related to claims and billingQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 2+ years of experience in healthcare collections and/or medical billingWorking knowledge of procedure and diagnosis codingExperience with Athena (Athenahealth) medical billing system preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)Strong written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized, self-motivated, and detail-orientedAdditional RequirementsAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA and company policiesMust be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing EnglishWork EnvironmentThis is a fully in-office position based in Fort Myers, FLBenefits401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insurance
