Overview

The CV Invasive Specialist II (CVIS II) performs duties necessary for catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level with minimal supervision. The CVIS II performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and assumes responsibility for designated areas and procedures. Follows ACVP scope of practice or NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. RCIS or RCES is required to pass medications.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of the CV Invasive Specialist I.
• Participate in procedure room preparation and post-procedure turnaround.
• Develop knowledge of invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies; assist in inventory control; document hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
• Provide patient education and emotional support; ensure patient comfort; foster teamwork with the clinical team.
• Develop knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomical variations, and treatment options; assess patient condition and inform the physician of deviations from normal criteria during procedures.
• Understand and apply principles of x-ray generation and safety; operate imaging equipment correctly.
• May mix and administer medications under physician direction (RCIS or RCES required to pass medications) per state laws.
• End-of-procedure responsibilities may include applying a closure device, suturing the sheath, removing the sheath, and achieving hemostasis.
• Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
• Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting cath lab equipment; perform point-of-care testing and QA.
• Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures; complete data entry; process imaging studies and hemodynamic calculations; meet intra-procedure CathPCI registry requirements; prepare procedural reports.
• Maintain knowledge of invasive diagnostic and interventional supplies, indications, applications, and deployment techniques.
• Prepare for patient status changes related to procedural events; take immediate and appropriate action when status changes occur.
• Orient and train staff; provide mentorship and supervision as a defined preceptor; deliver staff education in Skills Day Workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
• PALS (pediatric) or ACLS (adult); must obtain within 3 months of start.
• Starting March 1, 2026, must be RCIS or RCES or ARRT-CI or ARRT-VI or RN (with prior relevant RN experience).
• Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures, or demonstrated understanding and proficiency related to electrophysiology procedures.
• Maintains at least 12 hours of CME credits per year.
• Demonstrates CVIS/CVES skill competence evidenced by sign-offs.
• Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements.
• Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health science field from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
• Or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Respiratory Therapy program.
• One year of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (excluding academic/CVIS training).

Physical Requirements

• Vision and reading ability to assess information, labels, and patient needs; operate monitors and equipment.
• Frequent verbal communication with patients and staff; ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for handling complex equipment; frequent computer use for documentation.
• Ability to lift and move patients and bulky supplies; navigate crowded or cluttered rooms.
• Ability to stand for extended periods; may require driving a vehicle as part of the role.

Location

Good Samaritan Hospital – Lafayette, Colorado

Schedule

Full-time, 36 hours per week; 9-hour days (4/9’s) with on-call shifts

Compensation

Hourly range: $43.09 - $66.47
