Expeditor

Third Time’s the Charm is a popular cocktail bar and restaurant in Red Hook, N.Y. We specialize in sourdough pizza, classic cocktails, and crushable beers and wines. 

We are seeking a kitchen expeditor for dinner service. 

As expeditor, you will report directly to chef & owner. You will: 

• Call and coordinate orders between the kitchen and dining room;
• Check each plate for accuracy, presentation, and quality before it leaves your station;
• Communicate ticket times and course pacing to servers and kitchen staff;
• Manage ticket flow during rushes to keep service moving smoothly;
• Catch and resolve errors (wrong items, missing modifications, allergy concerns) before food reaches the table;
• Keep the pass area clean and organized throughout service; and
• Communicate 86'd items and specials to the front of house. 

• Conduct nightly inventory of mise en place;
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness; and 
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the CDC or sous chef.

We are looking for candidates with at least 1 year’s experience expediting, cooking pizzas professionally in a restaurant or comparable setting. Your hourly wage will depend on your experience and ability. 

Candidates should demonstrate: 

• An eye for detail;
• A get-the-job-done attitude; 
• A calm and generous demeanor;
• The ability to work in a small team, to deadline, and under pressure;
• A knack for anticipating the needs of your manager and your team;
• An interest in recipe development; and
• A desire to take on leadership roles in the kitchen.

Applicants must also be able to: 

• Stand for long periods of time (e.g., 8 hour shifts); 
• Occasionally lift objects 50 lbs and under; and
• Hold a valid Food Protection Certificate from the N.Y.C. Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. (Servsafe, or other non-Department of Health food safety courses, are insufficient.)

You must be able to work nights and weekends.
