Exercise Specialist - IRG Anacortes

Are you interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, or another healthcare profession? IRG Physical & Hand Therapy is looking for motivated Exercise Specialists who are passionate about helping others while gaining valuable hands‑on clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through therapist‑prescribed exercise programs.
• Assist with therapeutic modalities and treatment setup.
• Provide encouragement and education to help patients achieve their goals.
• Prepare, maintain, and clean a safe clinical environment.
• Build positive, professional relationships with patients.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or other related field preferred.
• Customer service or patient‑facing experience preferred.
• Knowledge and ability to demonstrate body mechanics, functional movement, and exercises.
• Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA laws and compliance regulations.

Physical Demands / Work Conditions

• Standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
• Lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Demonstrate exercises including but not limited to jumping, balancing on one leg, rotation of the shoulder in multiple planes, and using exercise bands.
• Ability to properly transfer patients with use of good body mechanics while maintaining patient safety.
• Required to work at an IRG facility and be responsible for your own transportation to and from the work site.
• Potential exposure to virus, disease, and infections from patients in the working environment.
• Ability to perform custodial duties using medical grade cleaning products – cleaning bathrooms, laundry, and disinfection of exercise equipment.
• Work for extended periods of time at a video display terminal and will be required to use a keyboard to enter and gather information.

Pay and Benefits

• Base salary: $17.13–$20 per hour, depending on experience and location of clinic.
