AdventHealth Medical Group West Florida Division is seeking an Executive Medical Director for a leadership role that is 50% administrative and 50% clinical. This physician leader will provide clinical direction, oversight, and leadership to all employed specialty practices in West Florida, driving improvements in patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and quality performance. The role involves strategic and clinical leadership, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and key involvement in physician recruitment and staffing optimization to build a sustainable, high-performing care team.

Practice Info

  • The medical specialty can be any non-primary care specialty.
  • Provides oversight for the clinical and operational performance of providers and practices in a dyad partnership in their assigned region.
  • The West Florida Division Medical Group has nearly tripled in size over the last six years, with a projection to grow to 900 providers by the end of 2026.
  • Spans a broad geography in eight counties, with practices in Charlotte, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties, as well as five Care Pavilions.
  • Providers represent 40 specialties and care for one million patients annually.
  • Staff provides care at locations throughout West Florida, including fifteen AdventHealth hospital locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical direction, oversight, and physician leadership to all AdventHealth Medical Group employed specialty practices in West Florida.
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership that drives measurable improvements in patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and quality performance across the medical group and hospitals.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to standardize care pathways, implement evidence-based practices, and align physician engagement with organizational goals.
  • Play a key role in physician recruitment, onboarding, and staffing optimization.
  • Develop and implement the clinical vision for their region.
  • Ensure AHMG and care management clinical practices/policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure personal actions, and the actions of the providers in their region, comply with all applicable policies, regulations, and laws.

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Active Florida Medical License
  • Active US Board certification
  • Unrestricted active AdventHealth hospital privileges
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of medical practice and clinic management, clinic operational structures and systems, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in managing a health care facility.
  • Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets, and multiple clinic functions.
