Executive Director of Financial Aid ServicesThe Executive Director of Financial Aid Services reports to the Vice President of Business and Fiscal Affairs and CFO. This position is responsible for overall supervision and management of the Student Financial Aid Office to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as meet the needs of the students. The Executive Director of Financial Aid Services is also responsible for providing overall leadership in establishing the philosophy and implementation of financial aid policies, procedures and programs; completing all applications for funds, management of program funds, knowledge and interpretation of rules and regulations governing student aid programs and for the completion of state and federal reports; and representing the Student Financial Aid office to other University offices and outside agencies.Essential Job Duties include:Implement and improve student-centered service programsMaintain an up-to-date understanding of state, federal, and institutional regulations and assure compliance with the sameOversee the coordination and completion of reports for federal and state agencies, annual audits, and/or program reviewsOversees the receiving and disbursement of university, state, federal, and private financial aid fundsManages students' communications to ensure that deadlines and important information are sent to students in a timely fashionEvaluates and updates all information communicated on the department web page for accuracy, ease of search topics, and user-friendly reading and understandingOversee the coordination and awarding of state, federal, private, and internally awarded Financial AidHire, train, supervise, and evaluate student financial service professionals and support staffDevelop and manage the annual operating budget for the departmentTrack athletic grant in aid program by sportsHost financial literacy workshops (as appropriate) concerning financial aid assistanceWork in collaboration with all campus departments, especially the Bursar's Office, Admissions, and the Office of the registrar to provide quality service to studentsProvide leadership to promote and maintain integrity, accuracy, and timeliness in the delivery of financial aid to studentServe on the University's Scholarship Committee assisting in the maintenance and reporting on scholarship budgets and awards and assisting with the development of awarding requirements, renewal criteria, selection, etc.Create and/or maintain a comprehensive Financial Aid Policy and Procedures ManualOversee the coordination of campus student employment (work-study)Maintain an up-to-date understanding of state, federal, and institutional regulations and assure compliance to the sameDevelop and maintain effective fiscal controls and proper record-keepingEncourage student-oriented services and positive problem resolutionEnsure adequate long-range planning activities for the officeActively participate in appropriate professional organizations and attend conferences and trainings to stay abreast of new and changing state and federal regulationsDevelop a training program for the department and other University staff to ensure compliance with Financial Aid federal, state, and University policies and procedures.
Conduct training sessions on and off campus to keep others who are involved in the financial aid process aware of new and changing state and federal regulationsAdvise the Vice President of Business and Fiscal AffairsCFOof trends and developments in Financial AidMonitor adherence to the NCAA rules as they relate to the awarding of student financial aidOffer financial aid workshops as neededPrepare required reports such as IPEDS, FISAP, etc.Maintaining spreadsheet for the athletic grant in aid program by sportsCoordinate the integrated and automated packaging all financial aid awards with the university IT staffPerform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisorQualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) include:Bachelor's degree in related areaMaster's degree in related field of study preferredEight Plus (8+) years of related experienceSix (6) years of supervisory experienceFive years (5) of experience working with student financial aid at the collegiate levelExperience with Common Origination Disbursement (COD) is requiredExperience with the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is requiredPrevious experience using Ellucian Colleague is a desiredPhysical Demands include:Ability to operate standard office equipmentAbility to walk short distancesAbility to lift and carry parcels, packages and other itemsAbility to prepare and analyzing data and figuresAbility to view a computer terminal; extensive readingSkills and Attributes include:Knowledge of: Computers and other related equipment Regulatory compliance principles and practices Administrative procedures and practicesSkill in people leadership and supervisionEffective communication (both written and oral)Independent decision makingPositive productive, and flexible customer serviceBudget/resource managementMicrosoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointAbility to: Develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships Apply analytical and critical thinking skills as well as draw conclusions and prepare accurate reports or resultsPosting Detail Information includes:Posting Number - S608Will this position require travel? - YesWill this position require night, weekend, and after hour work? - YesWill this position be supported using grants or contract funding?
