Onsite Contract Management & Leadership

Men's Health Boston is a leading multi-specialty men's health medical practice generating approximately $7 million in annual revenue across two Boston-area locations. Owned and operated by Dr. Evan Appelbaum, the practice has built a strong regional reputation and is entering its next phase of growth — expanding clinical capacity, service lines, and operational infrastructure. To lead this growth, the practice is creating a newly consolidated executive leadership role.

Position Summary

The Executive Director is a newly created, single-point executive role that combines the responsibilities of strategy leadership, financial management, and operational/administrative oversite. Reporting directly to the Owner and Medical Director, the Executive Director will run the day-to-day business of the practice and own the strategic plan to take it to its next level of growth — while Dr. Appelbaum remains focused on clinical care, medical leadership, and final decision authority on major initiatives. The practice's two on-site Practice Managers will report to the Executive Director, who will set direction, budgets, and policy while the Practice Managers continue to own day-to-day site operations.

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned healthcare executive to build and run the full business function of a growing, physician-owned medical practice, with broad authority over finance, operations, strategy, and people.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy in partnership with the Owner, including new service lines, locations, and revenue diversification.
  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities: de novo locations, strategic partnerships, ancillary services, and potential M&A.
  • Set annual business goals and translate them into operating plans with measurable targets.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and market trends in men's health and specialty medical practice.
  • Own full P&L responsibility across both locations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to the Owner.
  • Manage cash flow, capital planning, and investment decisions to support growth.
  • Oversee revenue cycle management, payer contracting, and reimbursement optimization.
  • Partner with outside accounting/tax advisors on financial statements, compliance, and tax strategy.
  • Build financial models to evaluate new investments, staffing, and expansion decisions.

Operations & Administration

  • Provide executive oversight of operations across both practice locations, ensuring consistency, collaboration, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with Practice Managers to support day-to-day operations while maintaining standardized policies, workflows, and patient experience across both offices.
  • Oversee organizational functions including human resources, compliance, facilities, IT/EMR systems, and vendor relationships.
  • Supervise and mentor Practice Management staff, fostering accountability and operational excellence.
  • Serve as the practice's senior non-clinical executive, representing Men's Health Boston to banks, landlords, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Build and lead a high-performing administrative and management team as the practice scales.
  • Act as the primary business decision-maker on daily operations, escalating major strategic or capital decisions to the Owner.
  • Champion the practice's culture, brand, and patient-experience standards across all locations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, medical practice management, or a related executive role; multi-site experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success owning P&L and driving revenue growth for a practice, clinic group, or healthcare services business in a similar revenue range.
  • Strong finance and accounting fluency; experience with budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle, and payer contracting.
  • Prior experience in human resources, compliance, and healthcare operations leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MHA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to operate as a true business partner to a physician-owner — confident enough to lead independently, collaborative enough to align on vision.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and team-building skills.
