Job Summary

  • Lead US Market Access strategy and manage Market Access Directors to execute access and pull-through strategies for BioCryst products.
  • Serve as managed care and coverage lead for National and Regional accounts in an assigned US region.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop Market Access Directors; ensure execution across regions.
  • Develop overarching strategy with VP market access and cross-functional teams.
  • Create and present strategic account plans for assigned payer vertical.
  • Prepare assigned accounts for future product launches.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Patient Services, Specialty Pharmacy, and Finance to recommend and execute US managed care marketing strategy across payers and channels (commercial insurers, PBMs, IHN, specialty pharmacy/distribution, State Medicaid, Medicare, and Federal VA/DoD).
  • Collaborate to create pull-through materials for US payers.
  • Initiate and lead interactions with US payers to build awareness of products.
  • Monitor coverage/reimbursement trends, policies, competitive pricing, contracting strategies, and barriers to provider/patient access.
  • Triaging of internal communications to identify opportunities or resolve issues for compliant patient access.
  • Act as field expert for Market Access and fulfillment needs.
  • Prepare business updates and/or business plans aligned to Market Access, Sales, Marketing, and objectives.
  • Work with Health Outcomes Payer Liaison to communicate approved disease education messages and respond to therapeutic class reviews and compliant inquiries.
  • Serve as liaison/lead on special access projects with National PBMs/payers and regional managed care organizations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Negotiation skills in rare disease market.
  • Use of clinical and value-related data for contracting minimization/elimination.
  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience; 5-7 years US market access operational and strategy roles.
  • Experience leading/managing market access team (plus).
  • US specialty product launch experience (rare disease launch a plus).
  • Experience with national/regional/government payers and field reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy, distribution, and hub services models.
  • Deep understanding of OIG and FDA regulations and PhRMA code compliance.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, collaboration, and financial acumen; entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Travel up to 20-30% domestically.
