You can learn more about Ethan here.The Communications Director will report to the Campaign Manager and will work closely with campaign leadership and the candidate to drive the campaign's earned media strategy and act as an on-the-record spokesperson for the campaign.
The ideal candidate will have multiple cycles of on-the-record experience, strong writing and interpersonal skills, and previous management experience.Key Responsibilities:Develop and execute a robust communications plan for the cycleBuild strong relationships with reporters at the national, statewide, and local levelOversee all communications materials, including press releases, talking points, reporter backgrounders, op-eds, and other contentWork closely with the candidate, Campaign Manager, and consulting team to shape the campaign's overall communications strategyDevelop earned media tactics, ideas, and pitches to drive the campaign messagePrepare and staff the candidate for media interviews and eventsServe as an on-the-record spokesperson for the campaignManage other members of the communications teamQualifications:At least two to three cycles of campaign communications experienceExperience on-the-record and building strong relationships with reportersExperience developing and implementing communications strategies and plansExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadlineWillingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as the campaign schedule demandsKansas ties or experience is a plus, but not necessary
