Job Title: Finance Consultant – Cost Accounting & Financial Close (Remote with Travel)

Overview

Our client, a rapidly growing organization undergoing continued digital transformation, is seeking an experienced Finance Consultant with deep expertise in cost accounting, chart of accounts design, advanced costing, and month‑end/year‑end closing. This individual will play a critical role in optimizing financial processes, strengthening accounting controls, and aligning system capabilities with core financial operations.

Location

Remote with approximately 25% travel to client or company sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support financial process improvement initiatives across cost accounting, financial reporting, and period‑end close.
• Analyze, design, and optimize cost accounting structures, including standard costing, overhead allocation, and cost roll‑ups.
• Evaluate, redesign, and implement chart of accounts (COA) structures to support accurate reporting and scalability.
• Support and enhance month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Perform variance analysis, margin analysis, and cost‑to‑produce evaluations.
• Translate business requirements into functional financial solutions and provide best‑practice recommendations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and IT teams to ensure alignment between financial processes and system capabilities.
• Support testing, training, and documentation for new financial processes or system enhancements.
• Troubleshoot financial system issues and provide ongoing functional support

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience in cost accounting, financial operations, and period‑end close.
• Proven experience designing or restructuring chart of accounts.
• Deep understanding of standard costing, actual costing, and advanced cost allocation methods.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or leading month‑end and year‑end close cycles.
• Strong business process analysis and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

• Experience working in manufacturing or distribution environments.
• Understanding of financial reporting tools and system integrations.
