Job Title: Epic Inpatient Instructional Designer (Remote)
Location: Fully Remote (US-based)
Start Date: On or after September 8, 2025 (after Labor Day)
Duration: Minimum 6 months, with high likelihood of extensions through 2027 and beyond (client has planned project kickoffs in Q2 2027)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Epic Inpatient Instructional Designer to join a top talent team on a fully remote, long-term contract basis. This role is ideal for a seasoned learning professional who excels at creating engaging, role-based training content for inpatient clinical workflows. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive Epic training materials for inpatient clinical applications, including ClinDoc, ASAP, Orders, and related modules.
  • Create role-based curriculum, eLearning modules, instructor-led training guides, job aids, quick reference cards, and simulation environments.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, clinical stakeholders, and build teams to translate system functionality into effective end-user training.
  • Lead train-the-trainer sessions and support credentialed trainer development.
  • Maintain training environments, including patient data, scenarios, and system configuration for realistic simulation.
  • Support go-live activities including at-the-elbow support (if applicable), command center assistance, and post-live training reinforcement.
  • Continuously update training content to align with system upgrades, optimizations, and new functionality.
Required Qualifications
  • Epic Certification: On or more active Epic Inpatient certifications required; ClinDoc, ASAP, Orders, or Stork strongly preferred.
  • Epic Training Environment Build (MST) certification or proven experience building and maintaining training environments.
  • Experience: 5+ years of Epic instructional design and training delivery experience, with a focus on inpatient clinical workflows.
  • Proven track record of developing role-based training for large-scale Epic implementations or upgrades.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex clinical workflows.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multiple Epic certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Epic's Learning Management System (LMS) and Training Environment build tools.
  • Prior consulting experience with multiple health systems.
  • Experience supporting large-scale go-lives and at-the-elbow user support.
