Overview
Peterson Power Systems seeks an experienced EPG Trainer to lead technical education for employees at our Hillsboro, OR facility.
Responsibilities
- Technical Employees Development Plans – Work with employee development staff to plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive training strategy; conduct learning‑needs assessments to identify training opportunities; work with managers to define skill proficiencies; develop evaluation processes; provide consulting and coordinate training requests; research and maintain vendor relationships; conduct cost‑benefit analysis; design and evaluate seminars, workshops, courses, and training.
- Technical Curricula Development – Perform needs analysis to identify skill gaps; develop and execute strategies to ensure necessary competencies are achieved; assist in designing a company‑wide performance‑management system; coordinate and evaluate training sessions; produce innovative training solutions; establish and maintain vendor/partner relationships.
- Technical Skills Training – Develop curricula, programs, and materials for product‑specific and system‑specific training; conduct personalized classroom training on electronics, hydraulics, powertrains, engines, emissions systems, ETC; coordinate alternative delivery methods such as computer‑based, web‑deliverable, and distance‑learning programs.
- Peterson University Marketing – Collaborate with the Marketing Department to promote Peterson University training services to customers and Cat dealers; operate company or personal vehicle as needed to support marketing activities.
- Champion a continuous learning environment across all Peterson business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college in a related field.
- Minimum six years of directly related experience in the electrical power generation (EPG) industry, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar products, EPG equipment, and commercial engines.
- Strong academic background in foundational Caterpillar courses with the ability to complete all courses required for EPG Analyst Certification within seven years of start date.
- Proven record as a successful field EPG technician.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- EPG Analyst or Marine Analyst Certification (preferred).
- Necessary technician safety and EPG‑specific training for Arc Flash (medium and high voltage).
- CIAP accreditation for teaching RDLC courses (preferred).
