Electrical Superintendent – Utility-Scale Solar EPCLocation: Project-Based / Southeast Travel Reports To: Electrical Project Manager / Project Director Employment Type: Full-TimePosition Summary: The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading and executing all self-performed electrical scopes on utility-scale solar EPC projects. This role provides hands-on field leadership to electrical crews and ensures electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, NEC requirements, and company standards. This position plays a critical role in driving production, maintaining schedule milestones, and coordinating with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teams in a fast-paced EPC environment.Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership & ProductionLead and supervise all self-performed solar electrical construction activities including:DC collection systems (module wiring, harnesses, combiners)AC systems (inverters, MV/LV cabling, transformers)Underground and above-ground conduit and cable installationEquipment setting, terminations, and grounding systemsDirect electrical foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and general laborPlan daily work activities and weekly look-ahead schedules to meet production goalsManage crew sizes and skill mix to maximize productivity and efficiencyCoordinate tools, equipment, materials, and deliveries to support uninterrupted workflowSafety LeadershipEnforce all company, client, and regulatory safety policiesLead daily toolbox talks and ensure completion of JHAs and permitsMaintain compliance with OSHA, NEC, and site-specific safety requirementsIdentify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors immediatelySupport incident investigations and implementation of corrective actionsQuality Control & ComplianceEnsure electrical installations comply with project drawings, specifications, NEC, and AHJ requirementsPerform field inspections and ensure proper documentation of testing and quality checksOversee punch list completion and quality closeoutMaintain accurate redlines and support as-built documentationCoordinate inspections with owners, engineers, and AHJsSchedule & Cost ManagementSupport development and execution of the project electrical scheduleMonitor labor productivity and report trends to project managementIdentify potential schedule impacts or scope gaps and implement corrective actionsSupport change order execution and scope growth as directedAssist with material takeoffs and manpower forecastingCoordination & CommunicationServe as the primary electrical field representativeCoordinate work sequencing with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teamsCommunicate progress, constraints, and manpower needs to project managementParticipate in coordination meetings, client walk-downs, and energization planningCommissioning & Turnover SupportSupport commissioning activities including:Pre-energization inspectionsEquipment testing and troubleshootingEnergization readinessCoordinate electrical work to meet commissioning milestonesEnsure clean turnover packages and completion of electrical scopeQualificationsRequired2+ years in a superintendent or lead foreman role on solar EPC projectsStrong understanding of NEC, OSHA, and utility-scale solar electrical systemsProven experience managing large self-perform electrical crewsAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and specificationsWillingness to travel and work extended hours based on project needsPreferredExperience with 50MW+ utility-scale solar projectsFamiliarity with trackers, central/string inverters, and MV collection systemsExperience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction softwarePrevious commissioning or energization experienceSkills & CompetenciesStrong production-driven leadership styleAbility to motivate crews in high-output environmentsExcellent planning and organizational skillsClear, direct communicationStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesHigh commitment to safety, quality, and scheduleWork Environment & Physical RequirementsField-based role on active solar construction sitesAbility to work outdoors in extreme weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and traverse uneven terrainExtended periods of walking, standing, bending, and climbing
