Job Description

Purpose: To receive Environmental Services (EVS) training and learn to clean all aspects of assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, offices and equipment, to meet Hospital and Department standards in order to promote the quality of care rendered in the environment.

Training Responsibilities: Attend the three-week training program to learn the following skills/duties:

  • Thoroughly clean assigned patient rooms, common areas, and bathrooms
  • Prepare discharged rooms for subsequent patients in an efficient manner
  • Handle the facilities’ waste management and materials stocking
  • Clean up blood spills, IV leaks, and various other bodily fluids and waste in a professional manner

Comply with all EVS EIC training program policies and procedures, including safety, personal conduct, and dress code.

Environmental Service Associate Responsibilities:

  • Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
  • Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Remove trash from all assigned areas.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Ability to remain on feet for a least eight-hour periods, while lifting and transporting materials throughout the facility
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to self-regulate and work in a professional environment

Clearances:

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance OR Act 34 Crim Clearance w Renewal
  • Act 33 Childline Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
